Our Journey

Everything great begins small…

The Founder

Chad grew up in the Bay Area of Northern California and launched iTHINKBIG School Assemblies in 1996 speaking to over 3 million students nationwide. He founded ¡Buena Onda! a project in Punta Colonet, Baja California, Mexico, after adopting his daughter Nataly.

Chad & Nataly

After Chad adopted Nataly, her biological family graciously donated land in Punta Colonet. They made a single request, “Do something good with it.”

After surveying the community, Chad developed a plan to help.

Delia’s House

Before they began on the Beuna Onda facility, they built a home for Delia, Nataly’s aunt. They wanted to communicate to the family and community that they were there for them before anything else.

They worked side by side and bonded over that season. They became family.

GETTING STARTED

The first project on the land was the construction of four cabins and the shower house. This allows up to 24 people to stay on the project. They then positioned two sea containers for storage and installed a fence around the property.

the foundation

The amount of work and material in the foundation is equal to what’s above it! They had to redo sections, to make sure it would support the weight of the heavy building. This was the exciting beginning of the building.

The First Floor

With the foundation finally finished, each brick was lovingly placed. Bricklaying is slow work but will keep the facility cool in the summer and warm in the winter. This is a traditional way of building in Mexico.

the second floor

We are currently in construction of our second floor, and after that the roof. Then, doors and windows, kitchen and bathrooms, and the septic system. We’re close!

More to Come

Fundraising is still currently being raised to finish the rest of the facility. If you'd like to be a part of this movement, please donate.
